FLYING PIGS

A film about diehard football fans, or rather about the so-called ultras of the most extreme variety for whom, more important than the score of the game is the cheering support of their team or their unique interpretation of it. The activities of these organized groups which cheer for their teams both at home and away often get out of control. Hordes of these pseudo-fans attack supporters of opposing teams starting often deadly fights, riots and bloody battles with police. Their greatest victory is in taking the colors of their opponents and they will stop at nothing to achieve it. This “guy movie” was directed by a woman, Anna Kazejak, co-author of Ode to Joy, a film about young people standing on the threshold to adult life, trying to be independent and to settle down. All of them encounter the same problems: lack of money, inability to communicate with loved ones, discrepancy between imagination and reality. It is no different in Flying Pigs by the same director, her heroes dream of a better future, search for their place in the world and any way to make a living. They are basically loyal to their families but have little in common with them having a false perception of honor and tradition. Losing themselves in the passion of football, they easily cross the thin boundary between good and evil.
