Copernicus’ Star

Nicolas Copernicus, the son of a Toruń merchant is a bright, inquisitive child. When he is nine years old, the Dutch astrologer Paul van de Volder foretells a great future for him, instilling in the boy a great interest in the stars. Paul van de Volder appears in Nicolas’s life again, when he is a student at Jagiellonian University in Cracow. A battle ensues between the astrologer-charlatan and Wojciech of Budzew and other university professors for the student’s soul. Astrology battles with astronomy. From the doubts and questions which assault Nicolas, the discovery which will change the world is born.
