MAKSYMILIAN GIERYMSKI "INSURGENT PATROL"

The January Uprising of 1863 was another patriotic effort in the fight for Polish independence. It was the longest uprising in the country’s history and the most dramatic as well. The film speaks of an episode in the rebellion depicted by a painter who himself participated in the insurgency.

The painting is part of the collection of the National Museum in Warsaw.
