Two soldiers knock at the door of a mother who is waiting hopefully for her son’s return, pushing away thoughts of the worst possibilities, as she lovingly pressing a shirt for him. The military men try to communicate to her the tragic news of her son’s death. This is their mission; their last duty and act of service to their fallen comrade. It’s also a strictly defined procedure, and an order that must be carried out: In the army, nothing happens by chance. Anticipating what they have to say, the mother tries to forestall, at all costs, the moment when she’ll hear what she can’t bear to hear. In the end, fearing a confrontation with the truth, she takes a gun and fires.... Reality mixes with visions. The dramatic tension rises even further. The mother talks with the ghost of her son, the soldiers are transported to the Afghan desert. Nothing is how it was supposed to be.
