A portrait of four women from a Krakow family. A mother, her daughter, granddaughter and great-granddaughter, each struggling with a drinking problem. In examining the way addiction is passed down through the generations. The gritty realism of the play runs counter to the romantic ideal of women as guardians of the family hearth and national values.
In Wojciech Urbański’s production, author Elżbieta Chowaniec is placed among the characters as an observer of the action.
