The heroines of this post dramatic play are three women of different ages waiting for the arrival of a man. From their conversations, it can be inferred that they were all, in turn, lovers of the same man. Actually, nothing is happening, the characters hold dialogues with each other, sometimes monologues facing the audience (camera) and… are waiting for someone who does not arrive. “This is straight from Beckett” – comments one of them and it becomes clear that the author is playfully tinkering with theatrical convention here by ostensibly alluding to the poetics of Waiting for Godot. And this is not the only literary word game in the play. The women’s names: Maria, Pinta and Nina (the names of Columbus’s ships) as well as the name of the man they’re waiting for – Krzysztof (Christopher) are a clear signal that we are not dealing here exclusively with a chat among women whom a man left about male-female relationships. This is rather a theatrical discourse, full of literary metaphor, irony and wit about, among others, the place of Europe and Europeans in the modern world.
