Melania (Maja Ostaszewska), the granddaughter of Mrs. Dulska (Krystyna Janda) is visited by Rainer Dulsky (Władysław Kowalski), a psychiatry professor from Switzerland. He is convinced that he has some connection with the building in which the Dulskis reside. Melania, a film director, is intrigued by the family history and joins him on his quest.
